LAWREN RICH
ARTIST STATEMENT
Living and working on the Canadian prairies, Lawren draws inspiration from both the energy of the urban landscape and the quiet expanse of the rural environment. Working between representation and abstraction, their paintings explore atmosphere, memory, impermanence, and transformation.
Weathered structures, fading signs, open landscapes and overlooked places become starting points for layered works built through restrained colour, glazes, texture and mixed media. Rather than describing a subject in every detail, Lawren seeks to capture its emotional presence. The beauty of things worn by time and the sense of renewal that can emerge through change.
Across both urban and prairie subjects, light remains a recurring element, carrying a sense of quiet resilience and hope.
