ARTIST STATEMENT

With functional tableware being the primary focus in my ceramic career, I find a renewed sense of exploration returning to a sculptural body of work. Much like my slip cast pottery, form and aesthetics are the founding elements in my wall tiles and sculptural vessels.

Inspired by the beauty and intrigue found in the natural world, my sculptural vessels and wall tiles reimagine lichens, living organisms and the dried flora I have observed microscopically. Striving to
captivate the viewer with minute details, I emphasize compositional elements such as line movement, repetition and negative space. By bringing movement and a sense of life into the clay, these pieces
evoke a quiet harmony undulating with growth and wonder.
